Younan Yousif is the current president of the Chaldean Australian Society since elected 2013. After seeking refuge in Athens, Greece in 1981, he arrived in Sydney, Australia in 1982, whereby he was one of approx. 400 Chaldean immigrants who arrived in Australia in the 60s, 70s & 80s.

Well known & respected in the community for his humanitarian assistance, Younan, was also one of the very first established committee members of the Chaldean Australian Society in 1993 by the help of the beloved St Thomas Chaldean Catholic Church & the dedication & hard work of Monsignor Zuher Toma – head of the church at that time & the support of various members of the Chaldean community. Younan held the position of Vice President within a few years after establishment where he also voluntarily worked for the society & the church investing his time & effort in assisting all Chaldean refugees & new arrivals to Australia in many aspects from interpretation and documentation services.

His studies have included completion of 4th year in Administration & Economics at Al -Mostanseriya University in Baghdad, Iraq, whilst he worked in the building industry within an Italian company in 1980 in Iraq. Currently he has also established his own building company & has been involved in various building projects since 1998.

Married with 5 children & 5 grandchildren, Younan has dedicated his life towards his family, his community and to the church, a major asset to the community joining in various seminars, programs, events & public speaking with local councils, NSW Police, local schools, various government officials & departments & representing the Chaldean community.

يونان يوسف هو الرئيس الحالي للجمعية الكلدانية الاسترالية منذ انتخابه عام 2013. طلب اللجوء إلى أثينا، اليونان في عام 1981،ثم وصل الى سيدني، أستراليا في عام 1982، حيث كان واحدا من حوالي 400 مهاجر كلداني الذين وصلوا إلى أستراليا في الستينات والسبعينات والثمانينات من القرن الماضي.

يونان معروف ومحترم في المجتمع لمساعداته الإنسانية، وكان أيضا واحداُ من أعضاء اللجنة المؤسسة للجمعية الكلدانية الاسترالية في عام 1993 بمساعدة كنيسة مار توما الكلدانية الكاثوليكية والتفاني والعمل الجاد من المونسنيور زهير توما – رأس الكنيسة في ذلك الوقت والدعم من مختلف أعضاء المجتمع الكلداني. شغل يونان منصب نائب الرئيس في غضون سنوات قليلة بعد التأسيس حيث عمل طوعا للمجتمع والكنيسة مستثمراً وقته وجهده في مساعدة جميع اللاجئين الكلدان والوافدين الجدد إلى أستراليا في العديد من الجوانب من خدمات الترجمة الشفوية والوثائق. 

شملت دراسته اكمال السنة 4 في الإدارة والاقتصاد في الجامعة المستنصرية في بغداد، العراق، بينما عمل في البناء ضمن شركة إيطالية في عام 1980 في العراق. حاليا قد أنشأ شركته الخاصة في البناء وقد شارك في مشاريع بناء مختلفة منذ عام 1998. 

متزوج ولديه 5 أطفال و 5 أحفاد، وقد كرس يونان حياته نحو أسرته، ومجتمعه وإلى الكنيسة. رصيده الكبير في خدمة المجتمع هو المشاركة في مختلف الحلقات الدراسية والبرامج والمناسبات والخطابات مع المجالس المحلية وشرطة نيو ساوث ويلز، والمدارس المحلية ، ومختلف المسؤولين الحكوميين والإدارات الحكومية وتمثيل المجتمع الكلداني.
